I consider the average level of this competition to be very high, but I must note that the contemporary performer is more concerned with the architectonics of the work, its through development and acoustic brightness and, to a lesser extent, with sincerity, which seems to me somewhat flawed. I think that purity,
chastity, even modesty of expression today are much more impressive than frankly rubato, sensual utterance and pompous phrasing.
