Dmitry Masleev and Gaik Kazazyan performed together with the Royal Bangkok Symphony Orchestra

On 4 April, the Closing Ceremony of the Russia-Thailand Cross-Year of Cultural Exchanges and
Tourism and a concert of stars of Russian musical art, laureates of the Tchaikovsky Competition
– pianist Dmitry Masleev and violinist Gaik Kazazyan – was held in Moscow on the stage of the
Zaryadye Concert Hall.

The Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Olga Lyubimova and the Ambassador
Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Russian Federation
Sasiwat Wongsinsawat delivered welcoming speeches. Among the honored guests at the gala
evening were the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Thailand Evgeny
Tomikhin and the Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for
International Cultural Cooperation Mikhail Shvydkoy.

As Olga Lyubimova noted, the Cross Year became a powerful incentive for the cultural
institutions of the two countries, which possess a unique, versatile cultural heritage. A bright
concluding event to the Year was the visit of the world-famous Royal Bangkok Symphony
Orchestra. On 2 April, a concert with the participation of Russian performers took place at the
St. Petersburg Academic Philharmonic named after D.D. Shostakovich. The closing concert was
held on 4 April in Moscow.

In the first part of the concert, "Siamese Soundscapes" (Narongrit Tamabut) and works by Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya - Fantasy for piano and orchestra
Le mariage de Minuit, Concerto for violin and orchestra Nefreretta - were performed. The
program of the second part featured Fantasy on the themes of His Majesty King Bhumibol
Adulyadej.
