Concerts of Ganbaatar Ariunbaatar dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the International Tchaikovsky Competition
Ganbaatar Ariunbaatar (baritone, Mongolia), Grand Prix winner at the XV International Tchaikovsky Competition, Honored Artist of Mongolia and the Republic of Buryatia, will give solo concerts in Moscow and St. Petersburg.
The concerts are dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the International Tchaikovsky Competition which is celebrated in 2018
On 31 August 2018, at 07:00 p.m., Mongolian and Russian singer Ganbaatar Ariunbaatar will perform at the Chamber Hall of the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory. People’s Artist of Russia Darima Linkhovoin will perform as concertmaster.
On 1 September 2018, at 07.00 p.m., the concert of the singer will be held with the Academic Glinka Capella.
Ganbaatar Ariunbaatar graduated from the Mongolian State University for Culture and Arts (class of Professor O. Ichinkhorloo). The rapid rise of his career began in 2011 when he became a prize-winner at the XXIV International Glinka Vocalists’ Competition in Moscow, and also took the “Best Baritone of the Competition” award and the Special Pavel Lisitsian Prize. In 2012, Ganbaatar Ariunbaatar won the award Mongolia’s Finest Singer; in 2014, he took 1st prize at the III International Muslim Magomayev Vocalists’ Competition in Moscow. Since that year he has been a soloist with the Buryat State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre.
In 2015, he won 1st prize (Gold Medal) and the Grand Prix at the XV International Tchaikovsky Competition. After this victory, the singer was given the honorary title “Honored Artist of the Republic of Buryatia”. In 2016, the President of Mongolia awarded Ganbaatar Ariunbaatar the Order of Genghis Khan.
The singer believes that the International Tchaikovsky Competition has opened up tremendous opportunities for him: “Two days after the Competition, Valery Gergiev called and offered trips around the world, performances at the world’s leading theatres like Metropolitan Opera (New York), Covent Garden (London)…”. The real experience, he said, is acquired on stage, in the theatre. Together with Valery Gergiev, the soloist planned his performances in the shows staged by the Buryat State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre: “This is a wise decision of Valery Gergiev, to think about our theatre, about our residents, who also have to listen to good music…”.
Among the latest achievements of the vocalist, there is victory at the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World (United Kingdom, 2017), in the Romance Song nomination (Song Prize).
Darima Linkhovoin, Artistic Director and concertmaster of the Buryat State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre, is a creative person. She never stops at what has been accomplished; Darima Lkhasaranovna has plans for new achievements, ideas and projects. Over the years she has worked in the theatre, she has prepared more than 20 programs of competitive performances by soloists who later became famous masters of the opera stage of Russian theatres in St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Perm, Krasnoyarsk and other cities.
The program of the concert dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the International Tchaikovsky Competition includes works by the eminent Russian composer, as well as Russian classics, Italian and French songs, works by Soviet composers.
