"To be the first winner in a new category is a great honor and responsibility for me"
Matvey Demin (flute), winner of the 1st prize of the International Tchaikovsky Competition (2019)
The idea to participate in the competition arose a long time ago, as a child. I remember when I watched the broadcasts of previous competitions, I dreamed of playing the piano, not the flute, so that I could perform at the Tchaikovsky competition.
Fortunately, in 2019, the "wind instruments" category was added. Therefore, for me, the question - to participate or not, was not at all.
The atmosphere during the competition was amazing. Everything was great and well organized. ... The feeling of great support from the audience directly in the hall and in social networks gave me new strength and inspiration to perform at the competition.
I would like to thank all my teachers, from my grandmother, who taught me to play the flute and love music, to Professor Andrea Lieberknecht, with whom I studied in Germany when i was 16. I also want to thank my teacher of flute at the College in Novosibirsk - Nadezhda Turenkova. All these people put a lot of effort into me, for which I thank them very much.
Of course, the contest has radically changed my life. I began to receive invitations to many different festivals and concerts. My goal to participate in the competition was to be able to play more concerts.
The most important thing that I would like to say the future contestants is to remain themselves and stand out as individuals in order to present their new musical ideas and interpretations to the public.
I would like to thank "ROSCONCERT" and the Tchaikovsky Competition for the excellent organization of the last competition and wish you a successful contests and concerts, as well as development and prosperity!
