The solemn opening ceremony of the XVII International Tchaikovsky Competition will be held on June 19, 2023 near the Great Hall of Moscow Conservatory

The solemn opening ceremony of the XVII International Tchaikovsky Competition will start at 18:00 near the rotunda of the Great Hall of Moscow conservatory where the horns of the State Kremlin Orchestra of the Administrative Department of the President of the Russian Federation under the baton of Igor Shevernev and Andrey Kolotushkin.

At 18:30, the official representatives of the Competition, the jury members and honorary guest lay floral tributes to the monument of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Communication with media representatives is scheduled shortly after it in the lobby of the Great Hall of Moscow Conservatory.

At 19:00, a grandiose opening concert of the XVII International Tchaikovsky Competition will take place at the Great Hall of Moscow Conservatory. The concert will feature a star-team of artists: Liú Shī Kūn (piano), a Chinese pianist and composer, the winner of the 2nd prize of the I International Tchaikovsky Competition, Denis Matsuev, a Russian pianist, winner of the XI International Tchaikovsky Competition, Hibla Gerzmava (soprano), a Russian opera singer, winner of the Grand-Prix of the X International Tchaikovsky Competition, Ariunbaatar Ganbaatar (bass), a Mongolian opera singer, winner of the Grand-Prix of the XV International Tchaikovsky Competition, Alexander Ramm, a Russian cellist, laureate of the 2nd prize of the XV International Tchaikovsky Competition, Pavel Milyukov, a Russian violinist, laureate of the 3rd prize of the XV International Tchaikovsky Competition.

The Symphony Orchestra of the Mariinsky Theatre is headed by Valery Gergiev, a Co-chair of the Organizing Committee of the XVII International Tchaikovsky Competition.

We’d like to remind you that the XVII International Tchaikovsky Competition will be held from June 19 to July 1, 2023 in Moscow and Saint Petersburg. The XVII International Tchaikovsky Competition is set to assemble 236 musicians young music talents comprising 25 pianists, 25 violinists, 25 cellists, 30 solo singers (women), 35 solo singers (men), 48 woodwind players and 48 musicians playing on brass instruments.

All the events of the music competition in Moscow and Saint Petersburg will be available for viewing live on the competition's official website and in its official VKontakte community.
